China has nine political parties, including the Communist Party of China and eight other parties, the latter known as “the eight democratic parties”(八大民主黨派).
The Constitution prescribes China’s political party system as a system of multi-party cooperation, i.e. the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation led by the Communist Party of China.
China’s system of multi-party cooperation includes the Communist Party of China and the eight democratic parties. The eight democratic parties are respectively the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (中國國民黨革命委員會), the China Democratic League (中國民主同盟), the China Democratic National Construction Association (中國民主建國會), the China Association for the Promoting Democracy (中國民主促進會), Chinese Peasants’ and Workers’ Democratic Party (中國農工民主黨), the China Zhigong Party (中國致公黨), the Jiusan Society (九三學社) and the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (臺灣民主自治同盟).
The Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference is an important institution of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
