SPP Releases Typical Cases of Public Interest Litigation on Food and Drug Safety

On World Consumer Rights Day, 15 Mar. 2023, China’s Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) released Ten Typical Cases of Food and Drug Safety Public Interest Litigation by the Procuratorate (十大檢察機關食品藥品安全公益訴訟典型案例).

In one of the cases, while a certain place has clearly defined the packaging-related local standard, some take-out food packages were not effectively sealed, which may bring food safety concerns. Therefore, the local procuratorate issued procuratorial suggestions to the local government supervision department to urge the strict implementation of the local standard, which will promote the application of safety management regulations for online catering services, protecting consumer dining safety.
