On 6 Nov. 2020, The Supreme People's Procuratorate (最高人民檢察院, SPP)’s Prosecutor General Zhang Jun (張軍) claims that the SPP has set up a new institution, i.e. Intellectual Property Prosecution Office (知識產權檢察辦公室, IP Office).
The IP Office is mainly responsible for formulating strategic plans for the prosecution of intellectual property and guiding the people’s procuratorates nationwide to handle criminal, civil, and administrative cases of intellectual property infringement.
The powers of Chinese procuratorates include filing charges as a public prosecutor in criminal cases, as well as supervising civil and administrative cases heard by the courts.
