According to the information disclosed by Suzhou Intermediate People's Court (蘇州國際商事法庭) in its official media on 12 Nov. 2020, China's Supreme People's Court (SPC) has approved it to establish Suzhou International Commercial Court. It is the first International Commercial Court set up in a local court.
Back in June 2018, the SPC had established the China International Commercial Court (CICC) in itself, which renders its judgment on behalf of the SPC. However, as far as we know, the CICC has not accepted many cases due to the small scope of its jurisdiction.
Setting up an International Commercial Court within a local court in Suzhou, a city only 100 kilometers away from Shanghai, the SPC probably aims to accept more cases that are currently inadmissible to the CICC.
