On 1 Aug. 2022, China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) released the 50th “Statistical Report on China’s Internet Development” (中國互聯網絡發展狀況統計報告, hereinafter referred to as the “Report”) in Beijing.
The Report shows that the number of Chinese netizens has increased by 19.19 million, and the country’s Internet penetration rate has grown by 1.4% compared with that in December 2021.
As of June 2022, China had a total of 33.8 million domain names, of which 17.86 million were ended with “.CN”; China’s Fifth Generation Fixed Network (F5G) could cover over 400 million households, and 1.854 million 5G base stations had been put into operation.
The Report, based on the statistical analysis of China's Internet, has been updated by CNNIC every six months since 1998.
