China Releases 2020 Statistical Bulletin of Outbound Direct Investment

The Ministry of Commerce, the National Bureau of Statistics and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange jointly issued the “Statistical Bulletin of China's Outbound Direct Investment in 2020” (hereinafter referred to as the “Bulletin”, 2020年度中國對(duì)外直接投資統(tǒng)計(jì)公報(bào)) on 29 Sept. 2021 to disclose the statistics for China's outbound direct investment in 2020.

Pursuant to the Bulletin, Chinese enterprises’ outbound investments have been brisk as a whole in 2020. In 2020, the amount of China's outbound direct investment reached USD 153.71 billion, up 12.3% year-on-year, and the volume ranked first in the world for the first time.

As to the end of 2020, the volume of China's outbound direct investment reached USD 2.58 trillion, only following that of the US (USD 8.13 trillion) and that of the Netherlands (USD 3.8 trillion).
