China Issues New Policy to Promote International Trade

On 25 Apr. 2023, the General Office of China’s State Council issued the "Opinions on Promoting the Scale Stabilization and Structure Optimization of Foreign Trade" (關于推動外貿穩(wěn)規(guī)模優(yōu)結構的意見)  to ensure the realization of the import and export objectives as well as to stabilize China’s economic growth and employment.

These measures include:

  1. Promote full restoration of China’s offline exhibitions;
  2. Facilitate visa applications for overseas businessmen to visit China and improve the efficiency of obtaining APEC business travel cards;
  3. Increase the advantages of Chinese automobile exports, for which China will provide transportation and financial facilities to Chinese automobile manufacturers;
  4. Promote exports of large complete equipment, for which China will provide financial and recruitment support to the manufacturers of such products; and
  5. Expand imports of advanced technology and equipment, and guide enterprises to import more advanced technology and equipment that are in short supply in China.

Apart from being the first case of enforcing Thai monetary judgments in China, it is also the first publicly reported case confirming a reciprocal relationship based on “presumptive reciprocity” (Guangxi Nanning China Travel Service Co., Ltd. v. Orient Thai Airlines Co., Ltd. (2023) Gui 71 Xie Wai Ren No. 1).

China Regulates Internet Unfair Competition
